Today at tho ofllces of Brownlnc Brothers was received the certificate certifi-cate of tho city of Philadelphia to Ttfr. Browning Brown-ing throuifh the recommendation of the Franklin Frank-lin Institute, the city of Philadelphia bolns the trustco under the will of John Scott, formerly for-merly of Edlnborough. showing that ho had secured tho highest efllclency In tho Improvement Improve-ment of firearms. Tho certificate Is slEned by tho president and secretary of tho board of trustees of Philadelphia, nnd the president and secretary and Dr. E. Goldsmith, chairman of the commission on science and the arts ot the Franklin Institute. Medal for Mr. Browning. Accompanying tho certificate was the medal, which has been awarded Mr Brownlnc It Is four Inches In diameter and on the obverse side Is the I'cal of tho City of Philadelphia, 1701 On tho revcrso aide tho orislnal Inscription In-scription Is "The John Ecott Modal. To the Most Dcsorvlnc." Tho late Inncrlptlon on this sldu Is "To John M. Brownlner for His Automatic Pistol on the Recommendation of tho Franklin Institute." The medal Is made of bronze.
