Show Conference of the Official Family Fam-ily of the Pacifies Closed Wednesday Night. HARRIMAN PARTY GOES TO SAN FRANCISCO Officials Were Guests of W. II. Bancroft at Alta Club Luncheon. It was an exceedingly busy day at Oregon Ore-gon Short Unc headquarters Jn this city Wednesday, and E. H. Harriman waa the most actlvo man In the aggregation. The conference of the official family of the Pacifies began at 10 a. m. At that hour Mr. Harrlman, Julius Kruttschnltt and tho others In the party returned from Saltalr, whero they spent the night, the special train having gone out there. They rose early In the morning and had a bath In the great dead sea. "We had a ball game while we were In the lake this morning, and now I am Impervious to everything I have a crust of salt on me. said Mr. Harrlman. But whon they reached tho office of General Manager W. H. Bancroft It was business, absolutely, from then until nearly near-ly 6 o'clock In the evening. Reports were made hy tho various officials. Maps were brought out and carefully studied and Improvements and extensions noted. Official Of-ficial documents of every description were gone over In detail, explanations mado as to this matter, additions made to an- I Gathered in Conference. At the conference, besides Mr. Harrlman. Harrl-man. wore Julius Kruttschnltt, General Manager Bancroft, Goncral Manager Calvin. Cal-vin. General Manager J. C. Stubbs, General Gen-eral Manager O'Brien. General Manager Wells, .1. Ross Clark, General Superintendent Superin-tendent Buckingham, and others. No ono unfolded any details of tho conference. con-ference. "It was Just a general conference confer-ence on the affairs of the system," is the way It Is generally designated, but It is safe to say that mattors of great moment were gone into, an dthe near futuro will doubtless bring forth large developments, de-velopments, not alone locally Jbut affecting affect-ing the entire "Pacific systems. Guests at Luncheon. At 1 o'clock labor was suspended and on the Invitation of V. H. Bancroft the party went to the Alta club, where an olaborate luncheon was served, with Mr. Bancroft as host. It was an Informal affair, af-fair, served In excellent style, with every ev-ery appointment. The guests were 15. H. Harrlman, Julius Kruttschnltt. J3. E. Calvin. A. JL. Mohler. D. E. Farrell. J. C. Stubbs. J. P. O'Brien. Thornwoll Fay. vice-president of the Galveston, Harrls-burg Harrls-burg & Antonio, headquarters at Houston: Hous-ton: J. Ross Clark. Fred Wann, Jl. E. WollF. Epos Randolph, presldont Sonora railroad. Tucson, Ariz.; E. Buckingham, D. E. Burley, J. A. Reeves. P. L. Williams, Wil-liams, with Mr. Bancroft presiding. At 2.30 It was back again to work, and the conference continued until about 5:30. Then the official visit was at an end; the entire situation had been canvassed. Tho papers and documents were packed up and the visitors left for the depot. Mr. Harrlman. his two sons. Mr. Kruttschnltt, Krutt-schnltt, General Manager Calvin and Mr. Stubbs left for San Francisco at 6:30 by special train. Mr. Mohler returned to Omaha. Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Farrell left for Portland by special train. |
