The good sense of the f people of Salt Lake is asserting -f 4- itself and this honest, rugged, enterprising citizen will be -f elected Mayor of Salt Lake for -f ' 4- the third time next Tuesday. -f The people know that behind 4- him are 00 per cent of the busi- ness men and fully 50 per cent 4 4 of the intelligent workingmen. 4 I 4 They know that the American 4 women, too, are ready and en- thusiastic for him. 4 The people also know that if 4- this city is made to grow and 4 4- become great the Thompson 4 4 supporters will be in the fore 4 4 front always. To say they are 4 4 "knockers" is to insult the in- 4 4 telligence of every really good 4 4 friend of Salt Lake. There are 4 4 no more public spirited men and 4 4 women in the West than those 4 4 who are w .irking for the Ameri- 4 4 can party nominees. And these 4 4 will never close their work hero 4 4 until the priests of the church 4 j 4 take theli hands out of public 4 4 and business affairs. 4- j 4 Yes, Thompson is already a 4 4 winner. His splendid character, 4 4 his steadfast devotion to the in- 4 4 tereets of Salt Lake, his friend- 4 4 ship for the man who toils, and 4 4 his strong business interests and 4 4 abilities make him a leader. 4 4 But he nrust be supported by a 4 4 friendly Council. American can- 4 4 didates in each ward should 4 4 be elected. The man or woman 4 4 who now contemplates voting 4 ; 4 for Thompson and against an 4 4 American candidate for Council 4 ! 4 should reflect. Do not do such 4 1 4 a thing. Do not tie Thompson's 4 ' 4 hands with a Council obedient to 4 1 4 the church. Vote a straight 4 . 4 American ticket. 4 4 Make the victory complete. 4 Then Salt Lake will boom. 4 f4 4444 44-f4444444 |
