Show I PAYMENT TO CONTRACTORS City Council Votes to Pay Blome & Co. ?2500. The City Council last night voted to pay Blomo & Co., contractors for tho sidewalk side-walk extensions of last year, ?2o00 on their claim for a balanco of S059S, withholding the remainder subject to a report from the City Engineer on tho defects In tho work dono by Elome & Co, The contractors con-tractors havo threatened to bring suit on Saturday next. In case tho balanco claimed by them Is not paid, "Whether this proposed settlement will bo satisfactory to them remains to bo seen. Sidewalks Laid Last Year. Blomo & Co. laid several miles of sidewalks side-walks In the eastern part of tho city last year, all of which was accepted by the Board of Public Worka. Since then there havo been numerous" complaints against the sidewalks laid by them and Councilman Council-man Neuhauscn has claimed that the work was far from satisfactory and that much of It should be doue over. Tho City Engineer and Mr. Ncuhauscn went over i portions of tho sidewalks on Tuesday. other members of tho committee falling to show up at tho meeting. Mr. Xeuhau-tcii Xeuhau-tcii opposed the payment of any of tho claim until tho contractors had agreed to make the necessary repairs, but consented to the allowance of $2500. City Lots Sold. Tho meeting of the Council committees following the Council session wcro unproductive un-productive of any Interesting results, out-Blde out-Blde of the acceptance of tho bid of I Homer & Robertson of $750 for two lot 1 owned by tho city overlooking City creek canyon on Capitol Hill. Tho property was sold moro than a year ago. the purchaser pur-chaser putting up a depcoit of $125, but this has been declared forfeited under tho terms of tho contract. The lots wcro I offered for sale again by Iand and Water Commissioner Luce and the bid of Homur & Robertson was the only ono received The Committee on Public Grounds recommended recom-mended Its acceptance. |
