Show DAINTIES FOR the 1 H TEA TABLE H HERMIT'S KISSES. Beat togeth- BVfl , er four ounces of butter, four HBV ounces of powdered sugar, two IH eggs, two tabespoonfuls of milk and IH ten drops of vanilla essence. Gradually jH sift in ten ounces of flour In which a IH teaspoonful of baking powder has boen JH mixed. Work all together, then dip out the dough by teaspoonfuls and drop on IH a buttered tin. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for ten minutes. Citron Cakes. Six eggs, one-half pound of butter, one-half pound of aug- jH ar creamed with the butter, three- IH quarters pound of flour, one glass best brandy, one-quarter pound citron sllc- jH ed fine, nutmeg to taste. Beat tho IH creamed butter and sugar up with the yolks, add the brandy and whisk hard for five minutes; then the flour, whites of the eggs and the citron, shredded IH fine and dredged with flour. Bako In small forms very quickly. Almond Paste Dainties. Bake In IH patty pans some pound cake mixture, and whllo still hot spread on the fol- jH lowing mixture: Two ounces of ground sweet almonds, two ounces of powdered sugar and bind with the yolk of one jH egg. Put .back in cool oven for five minutes, then with a knife spread on white of one egg beaten to a stiff froth with six ounces of Icing sugar. Return to very cool oven for ten minutes. Banana Sandwiches. Cut thin illces of bread and spread them very thinly jH with cream. Peel the bananas and crush them, then put a layer on top of the cream. Cream another sllco of bread and cover the banana with It. jH Press lightly and cut into fingers. Fruit Salad. Take some canned pineapple chunks and one or two sweei oranges peeled and the quarters broken Into small pieces and remove the sed, jH one or two bananas cut into small pieces, a few cherries (stoned), plums, greengages or any other fruit. Put into a glass dish all together with some orange and pineapple juice and servo with cream. |
