Show "M'CONNELL'S PREJUDICE." That person whom the Idaho papers generally describe as "Poker Bill Mc-Connell," Mc-Connell," but whom The Tribune chooses to call ex-Governor W. J. Mc-Connell Mc-Connell of Rlaho, Is back In Boise. He expresses the most chlldjlke and bland surprise that any Gentile In Idaho could have been enraged at the testimony which he gave In the Smoot case concerning Gentiles In general and Gentile members of the Idaho Legislature Legisla-ture In particular. Mr. McConnell explains at great length through the Boise Statesman that his remarks must have been misconstrued; mis-construed; that he was referring to some other year, etc., etc. And finally, to make hs defense complete, lie acknowledges that he still entertains some prejudices against the Mormons. As if prejudice against one class Is any reason why the other class should accept ac-cept him. Prejudice against tho Mormons by "Poker Bill McConnell !'' What is the matter, did he not get the price? |
