Show University Club is Hare Old lime Fourteenth Annual Banquet, First Since Completion of Clubhouse, a Grand Success. For tho fourteenth time tho college men of Salt Lnko sat down to a banquet. It was tho annual event of tho populnr University Uni-versity club of this city, and some 200 attended. In past years tho club, with Its limited membership, hns had to depend de-pend upon tho public cafes or hotels of Salt Lako for a suitable placo for tho yearly function, but this year Its own olognnt hone architecturally speaking, the llnest of university clubs In the West was used. The spirit was the sarno ns of yore, howovor, exactly na In tho days of HavIInnd and Sellgman and Wright and a host of good fellows that arc no longer here. It was much the same In tho old daya In tho Walker building build-ing before tho lire, and In the top lloor of tho McCornlck block, and even In the commodious quarters In the Jennings Jen-nings block, for thoro were dozens pres-cnl pres-cnl who had been with tho club from the very start, fifteen years ngo this Wnsh-Irigton'a Wnsh-Irigton'a birthday. Tho tables were laid In tho artistic assembly as-sembly rooms of tho club, and wero profusely pro-fusely decorated with llowers and palms. Tho menu and wines wore of tho most tempting and exhilarating nnd good fellowship fel-lowship relgued throughout tho evening, with ever a thought to Alma. Mater, so dear to the true collegian. Excellent orchestral music was furnished, fur-nished, and following tho serving of tho menu tho loastmasier arose nnd rapped for order. Edward S- Ferry, the president, was toaatmaster, and ho performed per-formed the stunt with rare aplomb, his witticisms being well received by all. It was a rather Jolly crowd to handlo and tho famous old song which hns done duty for fourteen successive banquets would break out every few momonts. but tho serious and gay renuirks were passed amid the gay banter or silence of tho crowd as tho speeches were demanded. Tho speakers woro Mr. Ferry, C. E. Allen, Rev. Elmer I. Goshen, James Ingcbrotscn, Bishop Spalding. Dr. Vaughan, U. S. A.; Georgo L. Nye, Dr. La Motto and George N Lawrence.
