The third rail arm on the first car threw him down and he was Instantly killed. His cothlng caught the emergency emer-gency trigger, threw off th6 current and set the air brakes on the whole train, which stopped very suddenly. The cars Jammed together by the sudden Impact and an iron 'gate fell to the third rail causing a short circuit. Blue flames shot up around the cars and frightened the passengers almost out of their wits, but the guards remained coolly at their posts, refusing to open the doors, and in a few minutes the scare died out. |
