Because Chum Marcum. a high school lad, objected object-ed to his sweetheart, Bossic Young:, making ma-king an apology to Iter professor for a misdemeanor, a riot was precipitated In tho ClarkshlH hlcb school that came near ending' In a tragedy. Miss Young had transgressed ono of tho rules of tho school and O. W. Little, principal, prin-cipal, requested her to come to his desk and make an apology. She started forward, for-ward, but Marcum, who had been paying her attention, jumped from his seat, commanded com-manded her to sit down, and assaulted Prof. Little. , Teacher Made Plucky Fight. The latter was handicapped by a crippled crip-pled arm and limb, and as Marcum Is a big. husky fallow, he was fast overpowering overpower-ing tho professor. Ronald Shaffer, another an-other student, went to tho reacue. Shafft r B.mt Marcum to tho lloor, and then proceeded pro-ceeded to administer u severe beating. At this juncture I Tarry Clark, a friend of Marcum, attacked Shaffer, but was Intercepted by Merl Ilammel, 3011 of Postmaster Post-master llammel. Fight for Supremacy. For several minutes It was a tight for supremacy Hammcl and Shaffer pitted against Marcum and Clark, with tho other pupils Interested spectators. Books, Ink bottles dnd erasers were used freely, and finally Marcum and Clark were pinioned to the lloor. At this juncture Suporln-tondent Suporln-tondent II. II. Harrlrnan. who had been out of the bullilliig, appeared on tho sceno and order wa3 restored. Two Aro Expelled. Marcum and Clark, with their faces bruised and bleeding, were reprimanded bv Superintendent Ilarrlman. and Marcum Mar-cum was expelled from school. Miss Young was also expelled, with tho admonition ad-monition that when she returned she would be expected to conform to the rulen laid down for pupils. No arrests have teen made. |
