Show OGDEN YOUNG EV1AN GOES TO ANNAPOLIS Passes Entrance Examination to Military Academy, and Is Appointed. SENATOR KEARNS received a message yesterday morning informing in-forming him that J. C. Littlefield of Ogden and Georse C. Snow of Salt Lake City had successfully passed the recent examinations which were given for entrance to Annapolis. Littlefield passed the better examination, examina-tion, and will receive the appointment from Utah. He is the son of MaJ. Littlefield of Ogden, and enlisted ns a private in the navy two years ago. La,st November young Littlefield secured a transfer to a training ship by the assistance as-sistance of Senator Kenrns, and since then he has been preparing himself for the examination which he has just passed so successfully. While on the training ship young Littlefield had the opportunity of attending the Annapolis Annapo-lis preparatory school seven hours each day. George Snow Is the son of City Engineer Snow, and formerly attended the University of Utah. "When seen yesterday afternoon Senator Sen-ator Kearns remarked "Young Littlefield Lit-tlefield certainly passed a very creditable credita-ble examination, and is deserving of the appolntmenL Snow also made a good showing, and will receive the next appointment ap-pointment from Utah, or at least the next that I have the privilege of making mak-ing The success of young Littlefield emphatically establishes the fact that It Is possible for a private to pats? from the ranks and attain a commission in our navy." |
