Show SWALLOW MAY DECLINE. It All Depends Upon Condition .of His Wife's Health as to Whether He Will -Run, HARR1SEURG. Pa., June 30. The Patriot tomorrow will say; Dr. Silas Swallow may decline the nomination after af-ter all. This evening in response to a telegram he sent the following to Chairman Stewart: "If the honor referred to in your dispatch dis-patch Implies duties requiring; my absence ab-sence from home, while' I highly appreciate appre-ciate any honor or duty the grandest party of the age can give me. yet unless un-less Mrs. Swallow's health greatly Improved, Im-proved, I would be compelled to decline. "S. C. SWALLOW." Dr. Swallow said tonight that he had nothing further to say as to whether he will accept the nomination. He also said that he did not think it advisable at this time to make anje, statement .as to his plan of campaign If he should consent to remain a candidate.! |
