hour He enjoyed the aerial view of Ogden Ogden Og- Og den and beautiful snow-covered snow Og-I Og Ben Lomand Both boys were permitted to handle the controls and 1 d fly the aircraft by them them- selves They flew at altitudes of plus feet and were both impressed by the experience Tuesday March 6 Joe Eggett commercial pilot for Kemp Kemp-Kel- sey Air Service lectured to the Aviation club at Bountiful High He explained many of the pilot license requirements theories of flight and told of his personal experiences He emphasized the safety of flying and commented that practically all light plane accidents are due to pilot error He encouraged the aviation club members to acquire good educations educations educations in mathematics and the sciences Mr Ir Eggett compared the safety of prospects of attending the State meeting meeting meeting meet meet- ing at the Hotel Newhouse in Salt Lake City Friday evening and Saturday March 9 and 10 Representatives will be present from clubs all over the state and during the convention at which time they will be given be-given given tips on how to help their chapter chap chap- ter function more smoothly with added enjoyment On Saturday Saturday Saturday Sat Sat- the state officers will also be chosen and this is one of the highlights of the convention A banquet to be held Saturday evening will conclude the affair Alread Already 18 president is Carrie Bjork- Bjork man The boys cooking club of Bountiful High School is really going great guns After a couple meetings of orientation they have taken to the stoves in real earnest I In their regular meeting on Thursday evening March 9 and the order of th the I Iday day was candy They have previously previously previously made cookies biscuits and cakes Their sponsor Mi Mrs s. s I Jensen states that their cakes cake were really most delicious and very well prepared The boys boy 1 eat all of their own cooking but bu Mrs 1 Jensen suggested that they j not eat all the candy that they 1 made at one time for their production production production pro pro- was quite large The Thi The The- boys really present quite a pic pic- ture They have uniforms o of chefs chef's caps and aprons and are most sincere in trying to follow the instructions of Mrs Jensen and really learn the art They meet every other week The next meeting they will try their hand at cooking mea meat t. t Fine Arts Guild of Bountiful This club in ints its ts interest and efforts to sponsor sponsor spon- spon sor or art in the community in its many forms each year conducts a contest in one of the forms of art rt and this year it is speech Some ome are working on readings others on sp speeches others on re- re retold told old stories etc As a prize the tle guild gives a generous generous cash award to be applied to tuition in any school of or the students choice in m in pursuit of further education so the prize is really something worth working for The finals of the contest will be held on April 18 It is s not definite yetas yetas yet yeti as to the place of these finals 1 but patrons of the school should try to reserve the date and be assured that they will have an evening of realI really good speech presentation from the participants participants pants on that night Mrs Ernest Brookhart is president o of the Guild this year Though the figures are not yet ready for compilation on the I High was completed completed completed com com- Thursday March 9 This service is a great help in assisting assistIng assist assist- ing both students and parents in locating some dental problems of which they might not be aware and bringing to all aU the consciousness of the need for constant dental check up BUS BUSOne One of the active clubs of the school about which little has been said this year is the camera club The school perhaps is somewhat in the dark about this group for they have been en in the dark quite a bit of the time themselves themselves that that is the they Y have i in n educational meetings The They have studied the types of film the types o of paper common common com corn of picture taking m mon on faults common faults of developing and printing pictures flash guide number and how to use them enl enlarging and other aspects aspects aspects as as- of photographic work This group does docs not meet every other week as do some of the clubs of the school but are on the job every week for a meeting meeting meet meet- meeting ing and arc are making the most of each meeting opportunity Joe West a ninth grade student is president of the club They plan on soon studying portraiture in inthe inthe inthe the near future and they are going going going go go- ing to sponsor a photographic contest for all members of the I student body The winners will willbe
