Show NEW ENGINES AT U. S, SMELTER THREE new engines with which the lead-smelting plant at the United States company's works in the valley will be supplied with a thousand horse-power are now on the ground, .raid George K. Fischer, the superintendent of construction, during tho afternoon, and will be ready to respond re-spond to the needs of the battery in short time. Meantime the American Bridge company has, under Its contract, con-tract, begun work on the roaster building, build-ing, which will be equipped with no fewer than cixteen furnaces, while the first carload of steel for tho big stack that will tower for 275 feet into the air is now in tranrlt. For the reception of lead ores with which to accommodate the needs of Hon. Thomas R. Jones, the company's pre purchaser, and that will have room for 20.000 tons, said Mr. Fischer, will undoubtedly be ready for him by July 15, while everything !s now moving on to a finish within the next sixty days. For his lead ores Mr. Jones is now making contracts and the producer Is promised the best llgurc the -market ! affords. |
