Show NO PLANS READY YET Short Line Depot Plans Will Not So Given Out Soon All sorts of descriptions have been I published for the new depot plans for I the Oregon Short Line Some of these I descriptions have fairly covered the railroad grounds between South Temple Tem-ple and Second South streets with imposing Im-posing structures which in architectural architec-tural splendor outrival the most pretentious pre-tentious buildings of ancient and modern mod-ern times Some of these plans are ornamented with towers of dizzy height while other have been ornamented orna-mented with everything that can add to beauty and comfort excepting a roof garden The truth of the matter is that the plans are not yet completed Two sets of plans are to be submitted and if they pass Inspection of the local officials offi-cials they will be sent east for approval appro-val Practically nothing has yet been done about the plans however A high I official of the Short Line said yesier day that the general arrangements and details of the plans will first be passed upon by 1 the local officials as they are In the best position to know the needs of the company here The financial end of the plans will be passed upon InC In-C York The biuldlng will how over be a credit to both the l road and tho city It Is the desire to erccl a building that will meet the requirements require-ments of the road for years to come and in fact It is for the future rather than fol the present that the road Avlll build While the plans are as yet of a purely pure-ly speculative character the San Pedro road will also have to he provided for in arranging the details of the building build-ing This road has a lease of the Short Line terminals for ninetynine years and there Is therefore no immediate prospect that the road will have an independent in-dependent depot of its own It is not probable that the public will have a peep at the plans until they have been submitted to and approved by the of Ilcials in the East |
