Show MASONS TOUR COPPER MINE Sixty members of Mount Mor-iah Mor-iah lodge No. 2, F. & A. M., of Salt Lake City, in company with members of Canyon lodge No. 13, F. & A. M., of Bingham, made a tour of the Utah Copper company com-pany mine last Saturday afternoon. after-noon. Leaving the Utah Copper office the sightseers went by train up the Highland Boy side of the mine until M. level was reached. From this point the group had a panoramic view of the pit and the communities of Copperfield and Highland Boy. After crossing M. level to the Copperfield side the party was taken to the east side from where an excellent view of Bingham Canyon was available. Mining operations were watched from the east side after which the train crossed the Carr Fork bridge brid-ge and returned to the company office. Saturday's trip gave the masons ma-sons an opportunity to see some of the operations necessary to ore production, everything from track laying to actual loading of ore. Members of both lodges were grateful to Louis Buchman, general gen-eral superintendent of the Bingham Bing-ham mine, for making the trip possible. Following the copper hill tour the visitors went through the Bingham-Copperfield tunnel and visited the U. S. Mines office. At 5:30 p. m. dinner was served at the Masonic hall by the Martha Circle, members of Martha chapter chap-ter No. 7, Order of Eastern Star, to 91 persons. Following dinner degree work was exemplified by Mount Moriah lodge. |
