Show TUiiE IN COLORADO Wolcott Faction Republican State Committee fleets FAIRLEY NOT DISPLACED Resolutions Adopted Denouncing Denounc-ing Alleged Doalin Mouse Republican Members Urged to Mc tin t-in Caucus and Organize House on Strict Party Lines Denver Colo Jan Notwithstanding Notwithstand-ing the announcement last night by State Chairman Fairley that the call for a meeting of the State central committee com-mittee for this afternoon was unauthorized unau-thorized n meeting of a portion o the members was held Eightysix of the 114 members were represented cither In person or by proxy They are all said to favor WolcolL for the Senate The meeting wns not as sensational as had been predicted there being no effort made to displace Chairman Fairley Resolution were adopted embodying a telegram to President Roosevelt de nouncing1 P B Stewart of Color o Springs for the course he has taken In connection with the Senatorial content and asking the President to take action inasmuch as It was claimed Stewart professes to be the personal representative representa-tive of his Excellency in Colorado I Is said that no provision was made for the forwarding of the message to Washington Wash-ington and it will not be sent A communication was received from Chairman Fairley who Is ill with pneumonia at the Brown Palace hotel denying that he has ever opposed a caucus a the Republican members of the Legislature He said that his object In postponing the meeting of the committee was to Insure a full attendance as he understood under-stood It to be the Intention of some members of the committee to endeavor to secure his removal from the chairmanship chair-manship He asked that action be suspended sus-pended until the meeting called by him for January I9th s The meeting adopted resolutions denouncing de-nouncing in strong terms the alleged deal between a portion ot the Republican Repub-lican membera and the Democrats in the organisation of the House by which it was claimed that the contests in the House were to be decided without reference refer-ence to their merits The Republican members were urged to meet at once in caucus and organize the House on strictly Republican lines and to repudiate repudi-ate any deal that may have been made with the Democrats |
