THOMAS LLOYD ARRESTED Former State Mine Inspector Back From Alaska With 27500 Taken in Vagrancy at Buffalo Thomas Lloyd formerly State Mine Inspector of Utah and well known to the mining men of the State is creating A sensation In the East because of his Independence He was arrested twice within two hours In Buffalo N Y the other day for not wearing an overcoat over-coat At the time he had 526000 worth of gold in dust and nuggets concealed In his clothes and 1500 In bills In his pockets Because he was walking the Streets without an overcoat the police Jumped to the conclusion that he must be drunk and ran him in as a vag lie was Just down from the Klondike and found the weather in Buffalo quite sultry entirely too warm for an overcoat over-coat As soon as he could escape from the clutches of the law he struck out for his old home in North Adamfc I Mass Lloyd was in Salt Lake In November and left here at that time for Seattle to close up a deal for some mining property he still owned in the Klondike Klon-dike He left Utah in 1S97 or 1898 for the Klondike and it was understood prospered there It was reported in the Seattle papers after he left here last November that his deal had gone through and the supposition is that the gold and money he displayed In Buffalo was the fruit of his work in the Klondike and what he received for his property in the Seattle deal
