Show JUGE rEPfONY f IWEE I think you have been aa much sinned against as sinning and you will be discharged remarked Judge Tlm mony to the only defendant In the Police Po-lice court yesterday She was Mrs A Hansen of 21 East Eighth South street The complainant was an aged man named Edward B Shepherd and his allegation was that the defendant on Sunday last had culled him several names not usually mentioned In usuall mentoncd polite society and scarcely ever thought of by real ladles The complainant was very dramatic In his treatment of tho trouble and said he had been a auffercv at the hands of the defendant sometime some-time past She had been real mean on several occasions and this time was particularly so The language used by the lady was such as was calculated to jar his nervous system I Mrs Hansen however denied the use of the language referred to and said that the most and the worst that she did say to him was that he was a rotten old snake She did not seem to have changed hci opinion In tho I Interim either as she declined tho privilege of asking him any questions I concerning his testimony saying that she did not cure to talk to such menus men-us he She aliened that Shepherd had 1 been very mean zo her boy on various occasions and that on one particular day he had gone after the lad with a J rake with tho evident Intention of parting his hair with it This was prevented largely by the fact that the I lad had on his swift shoes Then again she admitted that she had In the past called him names but only when he Irritated her When she attempted too to-o across a field to call upon 0 neighbor neigh-bor Shepherd she said would poke his aged head around the corner of his house and say Ah there honey Go along sweetness and make such other remarks ns were not calculated to Icduco the human temperature on a warm day The old man ahe said In conclu sion has simply made life a burden for me and 1 want to know Judge whether I cannot go and visit a neighbor neigh-bor without his consent and 11 I care to go across lots through the field whether it Is any of his business You have a right to go where you please so far nS this court and the complainant are concerned and I do not care to listen further Then followed the judgment at the opening of this story Mis Hansen left the room radiant in smiles while the old man looked a trifle dejected The Judge mopped his brow and murmured something about the bad effects of the hot weather on some people and then the docket ended |
