Show NEW GRAFT WORKED 0 Knudsen of Minneapolis Was the Victim OFFICER WAS IMPERSONATED Knudsen Found a Friend While Viewing the Temple The Couple Then Went to Sec Brigham Youngs Grave and a Third Man Appeared Card Game Was Sprung and an Alleged Policeman Arrested tho Trio and Took Knudsens Money Sharpers Then Ran Away O Knudsen a resident of Minneapolis paused In the city a few hours yen tcrday to be made tho victim of three cunning grafters The trlorobbod him of 210 at a point near the Brigham Young grave on First street and made good their escape with the money The casli was taken from Knudsen by one of the fellows who exhibited a police mans shield and announced himself to be an ofllccr Not until the alleged L al-leged ofllcer had disappeared with his money JRKthe Minneapolis man suspect sus-pect that ho had been victimized and 1 then he hastened to communicate with the police According to the story related by Knudsen at the police station yesterday forenoon he was looking at the Temple when a stranger approached him and began talking of friends of KnudsenB in the East I AT DRIGIIAM YOUNGS GRAVE After a few minutes of pleasant conversation con-versation Knudsen and his new found acquaintance started out to view the grave of Brigham Young and upon arriving at that place were Joined by a third man who announced that he was a sheepowner from Idaho desirous de-sirous of viewing the city The newcomer new-comer rapidly assented when Knudscnn first acquaintance took a number of cards from his pocket and Invited him to draw one The sheepman drew what was termed an unlucky card Knudsen was then Invited to select a1 card from a bunch that was held before be-fore him After being urged to do so for several minutes the victim drew a card and was told that lie had i won 20 a greenback of that denomination being handed to him at once He refused re-fused to acccpt the money saying that he had not made any wagers butiVhcn his acquaintances Insisted lie accepted a5 bill ALLEGED POLICEMAN APPEARS Then It was that the third of tho grafters appeared on the scene exhibited ex-hibited his badge and placed the three under arrest for gambling He Insisted upon searching his prisoners thus securing se-curing Knudsens wad Shortly afterward after-ward KnudsenK fellowprisoners broke and ran the policeman going In pursuit Just as the trio disappeared over the top of the First street nlll It dawned upon the Mini eapolis man that he had been robbed and he lost no time In searching out the police station Several officers went to work on the case at once and they have hopes of apprehending the grafters before pther persons are victimized Knudaen accompanied the officers In the search for the trio during yesterday yester-day afternoon He will continue on his was to Minneapolis today |
