Show MRS KNOTT1 ADDRESS NOTED SCIENTIST TOLD OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THAT BELIEF Theater Well Filled and Speaker Introduced In-troduced by H W Lawrence Address Ad-dress Listened to With Interest Mrs Annie M Knott of Detroit Mich spoke of Christian Science last night at the Salt Lake Theater to j an attentive audience that crowded the 5 first floor and well filled the first and I second galleries She was Introduced I by H W Lawrence who expressed satisfaction sat-isfaction at the good attendance and stated that the purpose of the lecture was to give a clear conception of the Christian Science belief Mrs Knott snH in part that Christian Science had brought to the world such an awakening awaken-ing of faith In Christ as to command the respect of those who did not accept the belief Electricity she said was a great force as applied under recent inventions In-ventions but It was as nothing when compared to the mightier force of Gods love which was to enlighten and awaken awak-en the world Few were able to define truth she said but that the truth shall miike you free Is the message of Christian Science today and we learn that the unvarying standard called truth Is not discovered by evidence on the surface of things The senses show us that the earth stands still a delusion that needs to be explained by astronomy So we could not understand under-stand life unless ve knew the truth of our on being and Gods relations to us We must sec tlve divine principle before understanding it as was disclosed dis-closed In the miracles of Christ which broke the spell of death Disease she said was not areality Life was real and Its opposite death therefore could not be real Neither was darkness a reality it could not be taken Into a room to overcome light but light the reality would dispel darkness and when spiritual light dawned on human consciousness darkness was dispelled 1 Christian science she said had no connection with hypnotic Influences for hypnotism treated disease as real and used untruth destroy truth Many she said admitted that Christian Science would cure nervous diseases 1 but Its power was unlimited It was good to heal all diseases or none Christ In healing the leper had touched him which was contrary to I law This act was not to show contempt con-tempt for tHo Jaws of man but to indicate in-dicate the majesty of spiritual law She did not expect that Christian Science would revolutionize the world In a day as there were currents to meet that had the momentum of ages of erroneous Ideas She then spoke of the power of God to heal the sick and related a number of striking Instances In-stances and urged her hearers to investigate In-vestigate the principles of her faith |
