Show Magna Crew Loses to Copper Allowing only four hits while his team mates collected sixteen, Alvln Shofer, Magna pitcher, saw Magna-Garfield Magna-Garfield go down before Gemmell 4 3 Wednesday in a ten inning game. Two weeks ago Gemmell and Magna tied 1414. Before the playoff play-off Gemmell was one game benlnd Pinney and U. S. Mines. The win over Magna put the championship for the last half play in a three-way three-way tie. Magna-scored two runs in the first inning, and Gemmell came up to score three runs. In the third inning Magna tied the count. Scores remained tied until the last inning inn-ing when Bus Smith, pinch-hitting for Jimmy Byrne, drew a walk and advanced to third on two pass balls, later scoring on Doty Bush's hit for the winning run. Billy Johnson made a sensational catch in the ninth inning to complete com-plete a double play. Mel Scott started for Gemmell but was relieved re-lieved in the second by Sammy Oliver, who allowed fifteen hits. XX |
