Show THE OLYMPIAN GAMES The acceptance by President Roosevelt Roose-velt of the presidency of the Olympian games at Chicago in 1904 as suggested by Baron Coubertln in France would make the meeting Immensely popular All the world would want to see them and the illustrious sportsman In charge It will be a worldgathering of athletes ath-letes and the feats accomplished will no doubt be worthy of the great occa slon These games come to us In away a-way as the legacy from the greatest of ancient republics to the greatest of modern republics and we doubt not that the sons of the modern republic will do deeds worthy to rank with tho achievements of old The whole country coun-try will take a lively Interest in the games and so it would be quite appropriate appro-priate for the President of the country to be president of the games The Na tional Live Stock convention In Chicago on December 6th last pledged Its earnest support and passed resolutions calling on livestock associations throughout the country to earnestly cooperate to make the International games of 1304 the greatest demonstra lIon of athletic skill horsemanship and scientific physical development of man and beast In the history of the world This support is cheerfully pledged the programme to be prer sented Including worlds championship contests In standard sports exhibitions or the games peculiar to the different nations of the earth spectacular repro ductions of the festivals and contests of ancient Greece and Rome and a comprehensive exposition of sporting equipment and in the pageantry ex hibitions cavalry displays and contests which will be prominent features oi the programme an opportunity will be afforded for the use and exposition of blooded stock of the highest grade and awards for superiority and public dls I I tribution departments of prizes will be mado in all It will be a masterful competition of the most magnificently developed men in the world and the struggles in the various athletic < ats will b e vorthy of the attention of the world and will challenge It No better or more fit man than President Roosevelt could possibly be thought of to ov preside over the con tests His name would In itselfawaken enthusiasm and his presence would spur every competitor to his utmost endeavor The Frenchman made a happy suggestion |
