Show HUMANE SOCIETYS COMPLAINT Lack of Interest Charged and Suggestion That Society Disband I Offered but Another Effort Will Be Made Several members of the Humane society so-ciety met In the office oC George Y Wallace last evenIng when an informal Infor-mal discussion relative to the welfare of the society was had There was considerable complaint over the lack of Interest in the society by the people of the city and several of those present pres-ent expressed the belief that it would be a good Idea to disband This however how-ever was opposed by others who be Jicved that Interest could be aroused In Ihe society and the necessary money raised lo run it successfully The good worR that had been accomplished In the past was referred to and the fact that the average citizen did not appear to realize that he had a perfect right to make an arrest when he saw an animal being abused was deplored It was re solved to make one more cooncst effort to interest the citizens of Salt Lake In the society Reports were made of cruelty to on Imals in various parts of the Slate which had been brought in by traveling travel-ing men and others who had witnessed them Dr Bcatty said he had seen more cases of cruelty to animals this year than ever before Especially was this true as regards delivery horses which were being run to death He believed It would be a good scheme If people would boycott stores the drivers for which showed cruelty to animals The doctor was also severe upon people who purchased 10 cents worth of stuff at a store and demanded that it be delivered This he thought caused many a horse and Incidentally the driver to suffer |
