Show PLAGUE IN SAN FRANCISCO QUARANTINE OFFICER REPORTS EIGHTEEN DEATHS They Occurred Between Mnrch 7th and October 14th San Francisco Board of Health Reports 22 Cases San Francisco Nov HThe Bulletin publishes tho report of Federal Quarantine I Quar-antine Officer KInyoun In which he states that from March 7th to October 11 th there have been eighteen deaths In San Francisco from plague I The Bulletin says lmtlt Is well known that there has not been a single authenticated case of plague In San Franclico Dr J M Williamson of the San Francisco Board oMIcalth says there have been twcntyonp or twentytwo cases of bubonic plague In this city since the llrst case was discovered last March The last case was reported on November 3rd The disease has been confined almost entirely to the Chinese ciuarter but all but to or three of those afflicted were dead before they were reported to the Health department depart-ment Local quarantine has been at once established over the places where the deaths occurred and every precaution precau-tion taken to prevent tho spread of the disease Since the first discovery by the local Board of Health last March of what they called the plague the San Francisco Fran-cisco newspapers have insisted that the health officials Were mistaken Statements State-ments were obtained from physicians In which they said l the Chinese al leged to have the plague suffered from syphllellc diseases the symptoms of which had been mistaken by the Health board as those of the plague |
