Show I I I I WENT TWELVE rUNGS I Fine Article of Baseball Offered I Of-fered Yesterday J LOBSTERS WON AS USUAL I They Brought a Kid Amateur Down With Them nnd He Toyed Immensely Im-mensely With Our Boys Game Was Anybodys Until the Last Inning When the Lobsters Began to Hit n Little and Took a Big Lead Played Two Now Men Owing to il Absence of Gimlin and Clark r The crowd which went to see the Lobsters and the Short Lines disport at Walkers yesterday afternoon Got more than their moneys worth They could with reason expect only nine Innings In-nings of good close ball and they Got eleven with an extra Inning of not such good ball thrown In The Lobsters carried car-ried off the game with them but they had to light for It and at several stages of the game their chances looked like 30 cents with the nickel plugged In the twelfth however they got next to Kidder and with a couple of errors behind him the Lobsters dragged In five runs winning the game by a score of 7 to 2 The game was as pretty a contest as could be demanded anywhere for the first eleven Innings At the end of the ninth the score stood 1 to 1 with only one Holding error which had not cost anything In the tenth each side got one making It U to 2 Both drew blanks In the eleventh and the Short Lines got the same amount In the twelfth while the Lobsters got the five to which reference has previously been made ANOTHER BOY WONDER The Lobsters personnel was a trifle different Father Ghn was not among thor and Clara Clark did not play on account of Illness although he looked at the game from the stand and applauded ap-plauded at appropriate places For pitcher the Lobsters brought down an Infant named Shurthff who has played some amateur ball with an aggregation rejoicing In the alliterative cognomen of the Fuji Teas of Ogden Mr Shurt lilT Is still a kid but he Is precocious yes quite so The bringing of this boWlS bo-WlS t case of bad faith on the part of the Lobsters I was understood that none but professional pitchers should work in the gsme With one of our professional twirlers the Short Lines would probably have won but with the amateur kid on the slab there was I nothing to It lie Is too good to play with professional teams The fact that he wobbled through twelve Innings and let the home talent get but nine his goes to show that he Is an Interesting little cuss I la not true Interestng 11 Shurtllffs head bursted on the way II home Ambrose B Provo Jimmy Boylan acted Instead of Clara Clark at third Jimmy does not require an extended Introduction to the citizens of Salt Lake He dont care who buys Some there were who insisted that with his Lobster shirt and gold trousers Jimmy looked like Eddie Foy yesterday Mr I Foy fortunately was not present and the comparison was allowed to stand 1 There was lots of good fast playing In the1 game too much of it to refer to In I detail The best way to dispose of It i Is to say that there was not any of what you might call bad playing The inS game was especially clean In one respect re-spect there being not A single wild throw during the twelve Innings Some of the Inlield work was noticeably good I and the outfield got plenty of work too Taylor having the greatest burden with seven flies to right Eddie KId ders work up to the twelfth Inning was of the giltedge order He became somewhat vulnerable then but was not severely censured for it Baby Asburys fine baserunning was a material fac tt tor in getting the runs for the Short Line Ke came in with both of them and had to work hard for them A less speedy and adroit man on the sacks would not have made good on either of the runs He was tolerably present with the stick too Mr Aabury slck announces an-nounces that he will slap the face of the Ogden young lady who called him I a watch charm Following is the detailed score OGDEN I AB R IB PO A E n 1l Casey 2b 6 1 0 6 A 0 I Plake ss 7 1 1 4 C 0 McGregor U G 1 3 1 0 0 Grienwcll Ib 5 1 1 o 0 0 Henry c 6 1
