Show EARLY CLOSING OF STORES I FAVORED BY OFFICERS OF THE t LADIES LITERARY CLUE Efforts of Clerks Association Indorsed In-dorsed by Directors and Members t of Home and Education Section 1 i 1 i I t I A committee consisting of four members mem-bers of the board of directors of the I I Ladles Literary club and four members mem-bers of the home and education section I met with a committee of the Retail Clerks association at the clubrooms on Tuesday evening Some time since the Retail Clerks association appealed to the home and education section to loud Its assistance In furthering the early closing movement and the meeting on Tuesday evening was for the purpose of discussing the matter After hearing the report of the clerks association the I committee from the Ladles Literary I I club Indorsed the action of the asso I elation in endeavoring to secure lie early closing of stores and gave the I committee a letter addressed to the retail re-tail merchants of the city asking that they close their stores at G h oclock It Is understood that Z C M I is not favorable to the movement unless It is I participated In by all retail dealers This Institution has several departments j depart-ments and the early closing of one I would necessitate the early closing of I all The request of the clerks association associa-tion Is made only to dry goods and boot and shoe dealers Tho conclusion was also reached at the meeting to distribute circulars to I the general public and particularly lo the ladles of the city requesting that wherever possible shopping be done before G oclock If this request is complied com-plied with It will not be necessary for merchants to keep their establishments open after Ii 1 oclock Ten thousand of these Circulars are to be printed at once and to be placed In each package sent out from the various large establishments I estab-lishments of the city I |
