Show EIUHNDRIS HEELECTED Retained at t Head of Republican Repub-lican Committee 4 PREPARATIONS FOR CAMPAIGN Ir I I Members of the County Committee i and the Candidates Hold a Conference ° Confer-ence Regarding the Work to bs Done In the Election of the Ticket Eichnor Expresses a Desire to bo Relieved of the Work of Managing the Campaign but Yields to the Rs L quest of the Committee I i A wellattended meeting of the Republican Re-publican county committee and the Republican I Re-publican Legislative and county office candidates was held at the Republican county headquarters yesterday afternoon after-noon for the purpose J of organizing for thp coming campaign D C Elchnor was reelected chairman of the county committee by the full vote of the members mem-bers present which action was unanimously 4 unani-mously recommended by the candidates candi-dates In calling the meeting to order Mr Eichnor stated that he felt that his p long service as chairman entitled him c to a release and that on account of his I being a candidate for District Attorney 1 It would doubtless be best to select some one else for the place as he did not wish to be placed In a position of campaign manager and candidate at the same time lest It I might appear that he was using the organization for his personal benefit Mr Eichnor then retired and the selection of his successor was freely discussed The candidates expressed a desire that Mr Eichnor be retained as chairman as they considered him neutral as to any factions In the party and that no candidate can-didate would be given an advantage not accorded to the others The committeemen 1 com-mitteemen spoke highly oC Mr Etch nors services and concluded that as 1 important work was to be done his long experience would be of especial value to them to request him to continue con-tinue as their chairman and Mr Etch nor in view of such a demand under such harmonious conditions accepted tho position The committee then gave him authority to appoint a secretary 1 an executive committee and a finance I U i committee to consist l of as many members mem-bers us he deemed best The candidates r candi-dates assessed themselves 510 each to pay the expenses of holding the recent convention E IL Calllstor State chairman appeared ap-peared and urged the cooperation of the candidates and the committee In fin obtaining a large representation of in rough riders to welcome Gov Roosevelt Roose-velt to Salt Lake next Friday The work of the campaign was Informally lfll In-formally discussed vigorous work was c ndvlsod and a feeling of satisfaction as to prospects for the county and 1 State tickets was freely expressed I The entlic county committee was rt present either in person or by proxy except 33 Jj Cutler of West Jordan who missed the Incoming train The 3 proxies present wen Walter J Mceks for P A Db 1 In the First precinct J If Eldrcdj1Jr for J H Preece in i the Second precinct William McMil L lan for J N Ttaslam of the Third precinct pre-cinct II N Standlsh for C H Roberts ti Rob-erts of Blrgham b There were present all the Senatorial ic and Legislative candidates M L Ritchie and T D Lewis candidates for Circuit Judge and the following it candidates for county offices H N Ii Standish James H Anderson for 1 County Commissioner P P ChrIstensen I ChrIsten-sen for County Attorney Ben R El dredge for Assessor L M Earl for Recorder Frank T nines for Auditor Audi-tor and Jesse W Fox for Surveyor |
