Show CHRISTIAN UNION MEETING EXTENT OF FUTURE WORK CONsIDERED CON-SIDERED Constitution Amended to Give the Union Broader Scope Suggestions by Rev Mr Bagby The Young Peoples Christian union met at the Central Christian church last evening After the opening prayer by Rev Alfred 11 Henry President Union of the union stated that the purpose pur-pose of the meeting wus the adoption of a new constitution one with a conttulon broader scope than the constitution originally or-iginally adopted A quartette composed of Messrs Jayne Slblcy Peters and Eaton sang Itemembcr Me Almighty One which was followed by a brief address by Rev Mr Shanks on Unseen Forces in Character Building After I wellrendered solo by Bert Margctts Rev W l Bogby talked upon the best methods to carry out tho Purposes of the union The spcaker thought that the bolter way to overcome over-come certain existing evils In the city was by building up something good instead In-stead of turning down the evil and suggested to the young people that they establish a free readingroom and have connected therewith a music room where young men who now frequent fre-quent saloons In search of pleasure might go to spend their evenings He i said that in order to succeed the union I must have some definite aim and thought the Idea of a readingroom and musicroom a good one I Tho constitution was then presented for adoption and after some discussion l discus-sion of lie number that should consti tute a quorum at the board meetings and an amendment making the number num-ber seven the constitution as drafted by the committee was adopted Ilcv Tllchurd Wake pronounced the benediction dlsmlpslng the meeting |
