yesterday the I report oC the committee on convocation I The rules rules made Its final report would have been adopted earlier but for the opposition of Aichdcacon Os tpnson who wished the n port laid on tho table Rev Hiram Bullls of Glen wood moved as an amendment that the archdeacon be laid under the table I Tho report of the committee was I adopted Rev D D Wallace presented present-ed from the committee on resolutions a set of resolutions expressing a deep sense a of bereavement and regret at the decease of R J Jll1 of Ogden sympathizing sym-pathizing with his family and noting the loss to the community and the church in his death LAX DIVORCE LAWS Dean J B Eddie chairman of the committee on that part of Bishop I Leonards address relating to marriage mar-riage and divorce reported as follows We your committee on marriage and divorce recognizing the laxity in morals h mor-als which necessarily results from the facility with which divorces are obtained ob-tained has reached such a lamentable state throughout this country and particularly u par-ticularly in this sedtlon and remembering I I remem-bering the sacredness of that holy bond of union which Sl Paul compared to that of Christ and his church which is indissoluble do recommend that this u convocation put on record its hearty k which tend approval of any measures to the enactment more stringent laws relating to marriage and divorce and urge the clergy and laity to use their Influence and effort toward this end t1t There was some discussion on this t matter The majority of I the convocation convoca-tion were heartily In favor of no rcmai ilagc for any divorced peisons in any event Archdeacon Ostcnspn opposed this as he held it transcended scripture scrip-ture which llxcd the limit adultery with no remarriage for the guilty party par-ty but leaving the aggrieved party the right to remarry The archdeacon was r snowed under l and the report oC the committee was approved Rev Ellis Bishop for the committee TeV Els resolutions J on Dean Halsey presented 1 olutoIS ut which were unanimously l adopted expressing pressing great sympathy for the unfortunate un-fortunate clergyman the loss to the church and the community bY his Illness hopes ness and stating the strongest for his recovery t I ROWLAND HALL PROGRESSING Dean J B Eddie for the committee I on education presented the report of Mlsa Clara Colburne principal of Rowland d Row-land Hall showing seventeen more pu Hal I pils this year than last the gain being mostly In the boarding department 2 Special mosty recognition is given to the L1 work of the physical department Anew A-new chapel music hal and gymnasium are needed also chemical and physical laboratories 1l > The committee further reported ri From personal investigation
