Show University Schedules TV Credit Classes Utah's citizens have to go no farther than their own living rooms now to attend three University Uni-versity of Utah credit classes Personal Finance. Mathematics in Western Culture, and Russian Literature in Translation via Tyision. 'jr the Personal Finance class series starting Oct. 7, DeEtte and Roger Nelson wilj portray a young couple who seek advice from U. of U. faculty and community com-munity experts on such vital problems as how to budget, make a will, invest in stock, borrow and save, and figure taxes. Tips on how to buy insurance, a new home,or an annuity as ways to stretch the family's dollar are also involved in this 15-week, three-credit-hour interview program pro-gram on Wednesdays from 9 to 10 p.m. on KUED. The U. of U. Division of Continuing Con-tinuing Education is also cooperating cooper-ating in offering university credit for study in connection with the CBS "Sunrise Semester" pro-j pro-j $is prepared by New York lSversity, beginning the week of September 28 from 6 to 6:30 a.m. via KSL-TV. Former Moscow correspondent Robert Magidoff, now professor of Russian at N.Y.U. will discuss the great masters of Russian literature lit-erature from Pushkin, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Gorky, and Tolstoi to Pasternak, and current poet Yevtushenko on Mondays, Wednesdays, Wed-nesdays, Fridays, alternating with Prof. Morris Kline's class in "Mathematics in Western Culture" Cul-ture" on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays. The latter course emphasizes em-phasizes the role mathematics has pjlayed m molding 20th century cen-tury life and ideas in science, philosophy, arts, and social thought. Pavich of 35 Roosevelt St., Midvale, was commissioned an Air Force second sec-ond lieutenant and received his bachelor of science degree at graduation ceremonies recently at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Lt. Pavich will be assigned to pilot training at Williams AFB, Ariz. The new officer, a graduate of Jordan High School, received special recognition at the academy acad-emy for his academic and military mili-tary achievement by being on the superintendent's merit list three times. |
