Show National Guard Launches Search For Beauty Queen One of the state's most extensive exten-sive beauty searches, the Miss Utah National Guard contest, is about to start rolling again. Guard units from the state will begin beauty contests on their local levels early in the month with hopes of getting their entries into the finals, said Maj. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General. Some 25 lovelies, each a contest con-test winner on the unit level, will compete in the finals Feb. 15 at Salt Lake's Cottonwood Mall. Salt Lake's Miss Kathy L. Pugmire, Miss Utah National Guard for 1963, will be on hand to crown the 1964 winner. As in the past, the queen will have two attendants who will also be seleced during finals. Along with the honor of being named Miss Utah National Guard the winner will receive an expense ex-pense paid, eight day trip to Washington, D.C., where she is to be among the star attractions at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Gen. Rich already has urged Utah National Guard units to start their search for contest entries now, and to stage local contests as early as possible to give the girls time to preparefor the final judging. |
