Show Rampton Accuses Bennett of Talk, Vote Variance Calvin L. Rampton, candidate for the Democratic nomination for United States Senator, Saturday Satur-day afternoon accused Senator Wallace F. Bennett of "talking one way and voting another" on appropriations for Utah projects. Speaking to Grand County delegates to the State Democratic convention at Moab, Utah, Mr. Rampton said, "Senator Bennett has consistently introduced appropriation ap-propriation measures affecting the state of Utah, and then has let them set with little effort to secure their passage. "On the Interior Department appropriation bill, Sen. Bennett voted to strike appropriations for six Utah projects. These were: 1. for a scenic parkway in south Utah; 2. for the Bear River National Na-tional Wild Life Refuge; 3. for the American Fork water shed; 4. for the Natural Bridges National Na-tional monument; 5. for a forest service water shed research laboratory, lab-oratory, and 6. for a fisheries project at Springville, Utah. On the very day he voted to strike these appropriations Sen. Bennett Ben-nett had inserted in the Congressional Congres-sional Record and released in the press a speech favoring the six projects." |
