Show Hundreds of Girls Register for Three Scout Camps The popularity of outdoor living liv-ing was proved again this past week when hundreds of Girl Scouts in the state registered for attendance at the three established estab-lished camps operated by Utah Girl Scout Council, announcement announce-ment from Council Headquarters indicates. All five sessions at Camp Red Cliffe in Ogden Canyon are now filled and girls are on waiting lists. Trefoil Ranch in Provo Canyon has only a few openings for each of four sessions, including includ-ing the special session for seniors , July 23 -August 3, and the one for Brownies August 5-11. Both Camp Red Cliffe and Trefoil Ranch will open for the first session of camping on July 24. For the first time in history of Camp Cloud Rim near Park City, the opening of the camp has had to be postponed. Due to the exceptionally heavy snow this winter, maintenance crews have not been able to get in to the camp to make preparations for the opening scheduled for June 24. The first session at Cloud Rim has been cancelled and the camp will open on July 2 for the regular second session. This session has been completely filled but there are a few openings open-ings for the third and fourth sessions ses-sions at Cloud Rim. The three camps are open to all young girls 10-17, desiring to attend, at-tend, whether or not they are Girl Scouts. The Council maintains main-tains such camps because camping camp-ing is considered one of the most effective ways of accomplishing the objectives for which Scouting Scout-ing exists. Registrations are still being accepted at the Council head- quarters in Salt Lake City and will be accepted as long as there are any vacancies in the session. |
