Show 11 ' j Listen to Both Parties, Then Decide on Choice, Huggins Says Ira A. Huggins, Democratic candidate for Governor of Utah, appealed to voters to listen to . both Democratic candidates, get to know their beliefs and their backgrounds and then to vote for the one they feel can best lead the state through the coming com-ing difficult years rather than be influenced by slick advertising advertis-ing techniques and wild money spending. Speaking at a political meeting in Salt Lake City last week, Mr. Huggins said that this is a time when experience tempered with a feeling for the needs of the people is needed in the State Capitol and therefore urged voters vot-ers to become acquainted with the abilities of both candidates. "The people must not be influenced in-fluenced by which side can spend the most money and make the biggest show, this is no carnival you must make the effort to know the capabilities of each candidate and then vote for the one you feel will provide the best leadership," Mr. Huggins said. Mr. Huggins last week told a group of party workers in Salt Lake City that the state must, in the future, play a more active role in establishing medical, safety, and spectator facilities on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The veteran Utah legislator pointed out that the salt flats are internationally known. "Soon the British Empire will be represented repre-sented on the flats through the personage of Donald Campbell and his multi-million dollar car. Hundreds of spectators will be on the flats and millions even those behind the Iron Curtain will wait word on his success or failure." "With this kind of attention focused on our state, certainly all the people should take an active interest in the promotion of more desirable facilities for spectators and participants. I believe the governor of our state should lead the way in seeing to it that this great potential tourist tour-ist attraction is developed," Mr. Huggins said. |
