Show Where Are Ail the Candidates? For reasons known only to themselves potential candidates for the various city orifices to be filled by this November's municipal muni-cipal election are being awful coy about making their intentions known. A number of reasons have been advanced and some of them doubtless apply to the persons who intend to seek election. I Some feel that there is a good chance the present commission commis-sion form of city governmentmight be changed before long and there would be little use in seeking the offices which would be soon abolished. While this is always a possibility it does not appear at this writing to be anything more. Residents of Salt Lake City seem satisfied with the , type of city government they have been receiving re-ceiving under the commission form. There appears little likelihood likeli-hood of them demanding a change. Other possible candidates are no doubt awaiting the "strategic "stra-tegic moment" to announce. That is fine except that everyone seems to be doing it and that is going to louse up everyone's strategy. While it may be strategic to wait until the last minute before filing deadline to file, it wouldn't be so wise if all the (Continued on Page Four) Where Are All the Candidates? (Continued from Page 1) candidates were to do it. It may well be that the person who gets going early this year, instead of running out of gas before election, will put valuable mileage between himself and the late announcers. One thing is sure each day that passes without candidates in the field is aday lost to those who want to line up the necessary votes to win. |
