Show Symphony Charts Youth Concert The Utah Symphony orchestra will present a free concert for all school children of the state Saturday, Feb. 28, starting at 10 a.m. This is the third and last of three concerts sponsored by the Foodtown and A.G. Food Stores. Tickets are available free at any of these stores. More than 13,000 school children chil-dren have attended the first two concerts and the total is expected to hit close to 20,000 after the Saturday concert, according to Herold L. Gregory, symphony manager. The program will include Mendelssohn's Men-delssohn's Piano Concerto in C-Minor and Overture to "Mid-Summer "Mid-Summer Night's Dream." "Scheherazade"; "Sche-herazade"; Aaron L. Copland's "Billy the Kid,"; Smetana's polka Furiante from "The Bartered Bride" and "Rhapsody Espana" by Chabrier also are on the program. pro-gram. Dr. David A. Shand, assistant conductor, will be on the podium and Carolee Gale, winner of the Utah Satte Fair talent competition, compe-tition, will also perform as piano soloist. All school children of the 4th grade or over are invited to attend. |
