Romney, manager of Utah Mining Association, has been named chairman of the , Emergecny Lead-Zin- c Commit-tee representing 80 per cent of the domestic producers of these metals. A move by Utah Attorney Gen-eral Walter L. Budge to have the United States Government take custody of state prisoners who appeal convictions through fed-eral courts has been rejected. Mr. Budge received notice from the U. S. Department of Justice thta federal law prevents states from relieving themselves of the expenes. Utah Securities Commission Monday ordered Tourist Enter-prises, Inc., to refund $142,234 to its shareholders. The funds are held in escrow in Walker Bank and Trust Co. The commission ordered the refund after regis-tration of Tourist Enterprises, Inc., was withdrawn by the agen-cy on Aug. 11. According to commission find-ings the refund is being ordered because the company had in the course of a year's offering of se-curities failed to raise sufficient money to accomplish its original objective of constructing a 350-un- it resort motel near Kanab at a "down payment" cost of ap-proximately $400,000. George E. McDonald, 4204 Rowland Dr., former field serv-ice officer for the U. S. Post Of-fice Department, will be senior service officer for the depart-ment's Denver region. He will be personal representative in Utah for W. D. Brewer, Denver regional operations director. A total of $4541 changed hands during the second annual Fat Steer Sale at the Utah State Fairgrounds Saturday. Highest price in the sale, $364, was paid Steven Morgan, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morgan of Morgan, by Harman Cafe, for his 1175 pound Reserve 4-- H Champion Steer ($32 per 100 pounds) Steven sold his steer to IGA for $344.47. IGA representative, bidding on the 960 Grand Champion steer was J. E. Henigan. The office of Senator Frank E. Moss announced that he is ing a resolution calling for a joint Congressional com-mittee to study and make recom-mendations on the establish-ment of a national fuels policy.
