Show THE BRITISHER EN ROUTE. Fitzsimmons Antagonist Sails for America Today. New York, July 16. A dispatch from London says: Jack O'Brien left today for Queenstown. and will sail this afternoon for New York to prepare for his battle with Bob Fitzsimmons. Last night he was given a reception re-ception by a large number of his friends who expressed their intention of putting, up their money liberally on him. O'Brien is in good shape and proposes to train hard. WILL FIGHT SEPTEMBER 6, New York, July 16th. The contest between be-tween Fitzsimmons aud O'Brien to take Place in the Olympic Club in New Orleans on September 6th, being sandwiched in between be-tween the Myer-McAuliffe contest and the finish fight between Sullivan and Corbett The battle will be for a purse of $10,000 and the middle-weight championship of America. This match was made necessary by the failure fail-ure of the Olympic Club to bring about a meeting between Fitz aud Ted Pritchard. The world's champion is allowed $1000 for expenses. He will probably train in . the neighborhood of New Orleans. Fitzsimmons will train at Bay St. Louis. The price of admission to the match was fixed by the club a few days ago at $120 for boxes seating seat-ing six, reserved seats $15, general admission admis-sion $10. |
