It is situated at the base of the Wasatch mountain in lovely valley, rich in agricultural re-sources and is eighteen miles distant from Great Salt Lake. Its elevation above sea level is 4,350 feet. There are many points of interest to visitors in the oity and near it. Here are some of them: The Tempi. This magnificent creem-vrhit- e granite structure was began April 6, 1858. It la 100x300 feet, the walls are 100 feet high, and the towers, when completed, will be 300 feet height. Over $3,600,000 have been expended on the temple, and It 1b now nearing completion. Here are lake Marv and Martha from which flows tho turbulent Cottonwood river; and at the base of the mountains are lakes Blanche, Florence and Lilian. Besides these are Mills creek. Parley's Emigration, and City Creek canons, all extremely picturesque and delightfully rotnantfo. Flaaaani Driwee abound in scores around the outskirts of the city; along the quiet country Sooths, and through the lanes dividing meadows of rich green alfalfa and fields of grain; while tno majostio mountains are never entirely lost sight of. From tmder the branches of trees and above badges of the wild dog-ros- e glimpses are caught of snow covered peaks. A drive to Fort Douglas, and then a mile further out to the month of Emigration nau. n is almost delightful.
