Show THE VENGEANCE OF THE CZAR. I Found Poor Padlewski Out , Even in His Hiding; Place tit Texas. St. L u is, Feb. 8. The Republic'! special from San Antonio says: The death of Pad-lewaki, Pad-lewaki, the nihilist, grows daily in mystery, and it is now almost certain that the assassin of General Seliverskoff, instead of being a suicide, was a victim of the czar's vengeance, it was supposed that he committed suicide, hut it is now known that the wound in Pad-lew Pad-lew -ki's head was inflicted by a bullet of a larger calibre than his pistol. Besides this, the secret papers, which he was known to carry, were missing when his body was found, as were subsequently the olllcial papers pa-pers concerning his death, which were stolen from the. district clerk's office. These facts, together with the knowledge that detectives were on the trail of Padlewski, led to tho conclusion con-clusion that Padlewski was murdered by detectives de-tectives for the reward offered by the Russian Rus-sian government for his apprehension, dead or alive. Attorney Wilson had the remains exhumed. Ho is a brother-in law of the Russian consul at Galveston. It is presumed that the Invest ration was made at the instance in-stance of the czar's government. |
