It-- Owner Abjures the Use of Labials, For-sakes Mince anil Set-ti- cs Down Into a Life of Silence Professor Uumont's Mar-velous Rescue. Once more have the ills to which all flesh j is heir i,'one down before the unerring aim ot art, and vocal imperfections no longer block the fickle road to fame. The Stammerer for whom the genius of ancient and modern times has toiled so hard has finally been emancipated and by one of the simplest and most agreeable methods a method, indeed, that not only overcomes a trouble that has embarrassed the brightest munis of the century, but one that builds up the faculties while relieving the pupil. It was in the chambers of Prof. E. R. Du-tno- nt of Boston, who is now stopping at the Cullcu hotel, that the secret of correcting these vocal defects was unfolded to a Times reporter this after-n-oo- Prof. Duuiont, the benefits of whose i methods are reflected in the irratitu.le of thousands who have been under his treat-ment, came to the city a short time ago at the solicitation of several ladies and eutle-- en who were afflicted with that most an-noying of. all vocal misfortunes .stammer-ing'. His treatment of them was so success-ful and their relief so spontaneous that his fame began to spread through 'ion, and he "v.i: induced to remain for an indefinite period. "We all learn to talk from imitation," said Prof, Duniont. ''There is not one in a thousand, unless they have given I be matter special attention, who can explain the mechanic m or physiological effort used in speaking a syllable, therefore stammering is a defect in t Ids fac ulty the mechanic al part of wbu h we exercise unconsciously. It follows then that in order to correct such a defect make spec eh to a certain extent a conscious. eilorL For example my pupils are taught to direct their mind in a measure fepon the physics! efforts used in controling the speech and the- rules ap: lv to the management of the respiratory mueies and utilizing .he same in articulation. When tho pupil U able to speak naturally iu the new way w ithout Constant cure as to rules he is disT'.ii scd." Prof, troeaont him elf was at one time a stammerer aiul at twenty-tw- o years of age it became, such a source of annoyance and em-barrassment thai he determined to II ud re-lief if i; were in the range of human en-- d ivor. lie made a careful and untiring study of successful German and French meth-ods of curing it and continuing bis reseurehes has reduced it to .bu finest unit mo.-- power-lu- i of modern arts. Here he has received a number who tried, without success, the mchodfl oi other masters. he result of his treatment has been most satisfactory and yet has lie to regi-te- r a single failure in Zion. One of the most conspicuous examples of Professor Dumont's success and the marvel-ous magic oi his met in. d is revealed today in tho ease of Mr. Thomas Denaison, one ofth ; best known gentlemen in the west, and who has been personally known to the reporter for years. His stammering was of the most aggravated type ami for years had been tak- - ing lirnnr root. Without indulging any le vity at the expense oi his misfortune Ijreaa which he has, under treatment of Professor burnout, experienced complete relief. Tom at one time abjured '" because the season was na.f over before he got i.i ids order, abandoned all hop.es of uiatrim.iuy because courtship implied too many terms of an. I anally determined to jt-J-l off the misfortune, with the aid of Professor Du-mon- t, t;' it lost him a lifetime of rood th ng . Today his enuneiatiou is as clear, his art. di-lation is as round and his voice as Dieilow as an orators. Every vestige of the Stammer has vanished his cure is marvelous. The case of a ell known lady Whose vocal in. Bnulties almost forced her to forego soeixl delights, is ;.:i equally prominent cure and these practical manifestations of the pro-fessor's skill having become known, he has gnthered about him pupils from aim st every portion of the state, not to mention those from Nevada. Superintendent Mills- - paugh of th public schools. Or. Joseph S. The Boston Herald, refer-ring to him, says: Prof. Dttmont has not failed with a single case of atamaaaring 1 hut he has undertaken. He is a bene-fac- t r of he iiutuan race.
