Parsons, for 185.00. Mr. uesky examined the paper. The fellow looked all right, said his name was Johnson aud that be was in tlie crayon business here. So he got his change. Mr. Desky was, however, a little suspicious, suspic-ious, and, taking 'he check, went up to Marshal Parsons,' office to t-ee if it was genuine, gen-uine, lie was informed that M. K. was out of Iho city and that the check was rather shady. He then at once untitled the police and then started out to do a little detective work on his own took. On First South street ho met his recent customer aud, in spite of an attempt to escape, took hhn in charge and lauded him in the cooler. On the fellow's person was fouud $10 iu cash and a railroad ticket to San Francisco. |
