Ex-Ci- Collector and Assessor Samuelson C'ut Hi. Throat in a Fit of Despon-dency Caused by Dlsappoi ntuient. Theodore F. Samuelson, late assessor and collector of Provo city committed suicide at 10:40 o'clock last night at hia home In that city. He cut his throat with a knife and died almost instantly. Samuelson was an old resident of that city, and was about 45 years of age. For two years he held the position of assessor and collector. STREET CAR FARES. County Attorney Murphy Thinks That the Lines Can Charge Kxtra for Trips Be-yond the City Limits. In the county court yesterday County At-torney Murphy submitted an opiniou on the subject of fares to be charged by the street car lines starting in tho city and running beyond the city limits. He thinks that the petition for the abatement of the live cents extra charged for trips beyond the city limits cau not be granted. He quoted a paragraph in the lranchise of tho Rapid Transit company as follows: "That iu the construction and operation of said railways the said grahtees and their successors and assigns at all times shall conform to such ruleB and regulations as may have been or may heroaster be adopted by the county court of said county in relation to operatiug railroads, street railways or tramways iu said county, and fare for a single trip over either of Baid lines shall not exceed ten cents," and then sums up as follows: "The question of what is a reasonable c harge is for you to decide under all the circumstances of the cane, and its reasonableness is sub-ject to review in the courts."
