' AN ORE IMtODUOER. The Bullion B c't and Caroline Mines Maks an Output During August of Over 20C0 Tons. ' THE WEEKLY MINING 8UMMABY. A Rich Strike in the Keystone Terri-torial Brbvitiea and General Notes From tba Mining World- - The Bullion-Kec- has been steadily tnainlaining tha big output which it began making; some mouths ago. In Ihe month of July it prod need about E.'HtO tons, and in August it' production was 2."itil tons. Tins added to the amount produced by the Caroline, Which is really a part of the Keck, Would bring the total up to quite 3U0O lous fur thu month. Mining Exchange, There was no lifo on the exchange this morning and very little Vmsiriess was done. There did not seem to be any pro-nounced inclination to cither buy orsell. The Ontario production for the week has been .!0,21l.!i'J in ore sales and ounces of silver bullion. The Daly production has been $70(3.12, all of which has been derived from ore. In most of the stocks there has been an emphatic bear movement, thore has been one exception to that statement, that being Mammath which is again gaining tho conlidcuco of iuvestors. Tl'oo Nhall Nut Steal. " The Tim published an item of news on August ill, under the heading of "Leaching of Tintic Ores." It had ref-erence to remodeling tho old Mammoth mill by the Shettlo lirothers, prepara-tory to their entering the market as bidders for tho low grade ores of Tintic. Tho Tintic Miner, without a qualm of conscience, stole the item anil publishod it as original in its issue of yesterday. The 'J'ril'Viie republishes it "this morn-ini- ; and gives credit to the Tintic Miner. Verily, verily, the road of the scissors oiiitor is a rocky one and lilied with snares and pitfalls. From tlie liurtks "Chtar." The biggest strike ever made north of the gulch was made Friday iu the Key-stone on the TOO north from the shaft. A drift was being run in hard lime and there were no indications of ore what-ever, when they suddenly broke into an immense body the extent of which has not yet been ascertained. One miner averred that it was bigger than the hoisting works. The whole faco of the drift is in ore anyhow, and some of it assays as high as ;i00 or $400. It averages $700 to tho ton. The ore is black sulpliurets and chloride. The South Swansea continues to im-prove. Another shipment will be made next welt. The Gum Drop and Butcher Boy will both ship again next week. Tho Martha Washington sent in a car of ore this wee. A case of ore stealing is reported from Diamond. Three cars of Sioux ore were shipped this week. Territorial HreTit!a. More speed is being made in driving the Ontario drain tunnel than any time since it was started. The reports of rich discoveries of ore on the 000 and TOO levels of the Key-stone are being confirmed. Hank Smith has been at Park .City this week making an examination of the new machinery on the Anchor. S. I. Hallet, manager of the Compro-mise Mining company as Aspen, Colo-rado, arrived in the city yesterday. George D. Schell returned yesterday from a tour of several weeks among the mining camps of Eastern Nevada. George A. Meears states that the re-port of a rich strike in the No. 2 shaft of the Meears Consolidated at Park City is erroneous. W. C. Scheu, who has been superin-tending the development of the Shoe-bridg- e and Tesora mines, came in from Silver City last night. there is little cause for complaint. None of the older camps, from which large productions were anticipated, have failed to make as large a yield as could have boon reasonably expected. The only ones that have not doue what was hoped for them, are thoso which are remote from railroad facilities; and even in thoso cases, all prophecies were contingent on railroad communication. It is too early yet with the meager data obtainable, to make a safe predic-tion of the amount of the territory's mineral output for tho year; but it does not seem probable that it will exceed that of 1S00, if it even reaches thoso figures. There have beeu several conditions not iiltligother conducive to a general activity in mining, tho principle of which has beeu tho erratic quotations for silver and lead, and the probability that a silver bill of some kind would be passed by the next congress. There are several mines in Utah which are only making a limited production at this time iu antMpatiou of such an event. This week has witnessed the contin-uance of the mining excitement in La l'lata district. .No new developments, of any significance, have beon made there within the past ten days; but time has crystalized the belief that a few of the'discoveries have considera-ble merit in them. There has been a large increase in the oro receipts into the city this week over those of laM. There has beeu a total of I7o0 tons of ore re-ceived and accounted for in the city this week as compared with tW(i:J tons Jast week. This does not constitute the eutiro amount as one of the loading firms of ore buyers does not make a report. A small lot of ore was received from the Buekhorn mine of Dugway district during the week.
