Many people have gotten the impression the past few days that there was something wrong at the Lehi sugar factory; that possibly pos-sibly it was not such a great success as they were at first led to believe. This impression has eathered force and circulation from the fact that orders for sugar have been sent in which could not be filled as quickly as was desired. An interview with the secretary of the company this morning completely explodes ex-plodes this surmise. He 6aid the works had been closed down for three days last week to make some repairs: but that they had since been running to the utmost satisfaction. They had not yet caught up with the orders which wer still coming in, and these have to take their turns. The quality of the sugar produced is reported to be improving every day. Not This Winter. All of the paving companies agree that nothing: can be done on the State street contract con-tract this winter except the grading. There is no cuarantee that this weather will continue con-tinue lor any length of time and it is utterly impossible, to lay concrete when the temperature temper-ature is at any time below freezing, and be certain that it would stand the tes t imposed by the specifications. They Will Protest. There were rumors today that several protests pro-tests would be filed against the consideration of some of the bids that were filed with the board of public works yesterday for the State street paving contract. These protests will be based on several Urines, among them beinsr that the bids were, filed a few minutes after the hour set; that the competitors have I'tver shown their ability to do work of the kind proposed and that the bids were not led in accordance with the prescribed rules hid down and which some of the bidders followed. fol-lowed. 1 : i Another Meeting:.
