It would be a matter of pride with all those who are engaged in mining work if Utah should capture the prize and all would be interested in seeing an" enort made to do so. In the mining : districts the men should take the matter mat-ter up and prepare to enter teams. The companies would undoubtedly give such assistance as should be needed to send teams in good shape and with a little attention to the matter now Utah would be creditably repre-I repre-I sented in the contest. DRILLING CONTEST. During the mining congress which will meet in Denver o'n the 18th of November No-vember there will be a drilling contest-in contest-in Coliseum hall. For this feature of the congress the committee of .arrangements .arrange-ments has decided to offer premiums amounting to 81000. It will be the first contest of the kind that was ever held open to the M-orld. There have been many drilling matches, but they have all been local, but the miners of every section will be invited to enter their favorites in this great trial. The event is already attracting much attention atten-tion and miners are even now offering wagers on the result. One gentleman appeared on the floor of the Denver exchange a few days ago and offered to bet $1000 that he could name the winning win-ning team.' ' The drifting contest will interest the |
