Sleigh of this city made a rather remarkable diseovery. He found that a simple water injection under the tkiu with a syringe renders the flesh at that point insensible to pain. Tho effect of the water is to create a slight swelling, resembling that cntised by the sting of a gnat. The space marked by the swelling remains insensible to pain for some minutes.
