There has been quite an advance) in tho prico of Mammoth stock within tho past week. R. C. Lund of SI George, and one of tho owners of tho Dixy copper mine is in the city. Prospecting has been wonderfully stimulated near Silver City by the rich strike made in tlio Alaska mine. A stock company has been organized on the North lialton mina, who expect to list their stock on the Chicag J ex-change. 49er Per-rso- of Park City whs in tho town yesterday. Scllick of Denver, who organiz-ed the compauy to vork tho Alamo aud Albany mines in Tintio, which have gotten iuto liuanciai distress, is expect-ed to arrive here in a day or two with funds to liquidate all indebtedness. (leorgi Arthur Rice returned yester-day fiom a trip to Colorado, which ex-tended through many of the principal mining camps of the state. Mr. Rice found a verv general interest maui- - I.eaohlag Works at Frova. 1'rovo Dispatch. Charles Lawrence was in Frovo yes-terday, and with a party of gentlemen visited several places in this vicinity, the object being the selection of a place where a leaching mill could be erected. Mr. Lawreuce, who is well known in commercial circles, a short time ago isited Montana with a view of samp-ling the ore and finding out the prac-ticability of establishing a mill there; but tho ore was not satisfactory and he then came to Utah and made a visit to the Tintio mining district. Here he found the ore extremely suitable for his purposes. The gentleman represents a large amount of capital, which is ready for investment, and if the leaching mill is erected here, it means employment for 600 men and about $20,000 paid annual-ly in wages. An enterprise like tnis should be helped along by all means, and, if necessary, citizens should give the necessary grounds for tbe erection of buildings, etc. fested concerning tha mines of L'tah. David Keith, foreman of the Anchor, was in the city yesterday, eaid lhat tho new tmikiiiigs on that property were ail up and nearly enclosed and that be expected t he work of setting the new machinery would higiu in a few days. There is said to be an air of depres-sion and gloom pervading the San Francisco slock exchange. It is all caused by the passage of a bill by tho last legislature which prohibits dealing in margins or selling for future de-livery. It is two years ago this month since the Colorado mining exchange was organUuu. In the live bu.-iue-ss days of last week nearly 200,000 shares of stock changed hands, and the money to pay for every share passed through tha Clearing house. A few men ara reported to be work-ing ou the Kalamazoo mine in Ameri-can Fork canon. This is the property which produced quite an excitement last fall by reason of the linding of high grade (lout in tbo surface wash. Several small shipments were made of this ore. Think. It I. tha But In Illncham. Three more samplos of ore were re-ceived yesterdaw by A. L. Williams from the Vespasian mino in Bingham. These assays returned for .'o. 1, ounces in silver, 113 per cent lead and $Hi.o4 in gold. No. 2, 115 ounces in silver. 18.0 per cent lead, J1.07 In gold and for No. 3, 83. SO ounces in silver, 24.4 per cent lead and 810.83 in gold. Them is a streak of twelve iuches of the highest grade ore which is of a bro-mide character and live feet of tbo grade mining from 83.00 to 115 ounces. In Mr Williams' opinion the Vespasian is the richest mine in Utah. Mlnlpj In Stockton, tlining men who com, in from Stock-ton report the camp as being exceed-ingly dull. No work has been done on the Houorino for the past month. The Honorine concentrator is woikingon ore derived from the Legal Tender, the property which is being worked under a lease by Messrs. Ross & Collins, who are doing considerable dead work ou the mine, but are making no effort tj extract anything but the second-clas- s ore, and it is on material of this kind that the mill is engaged.
