Show Chlc.j. Bbook.d. Chicago Mall. Miss Rehan is developing a passion for the decollete which lead her to often expose herself in a manner that is Immodest even to vulgarity. It is from no prudish reason that thi complaint is made, and it is from no failure to appreciate ap-preciate artistio propriety. The mind which is debauched by reading Shakespeare's Shake-speare's works may be sure that the iiiiMil-i was done before it felt the necromacy of "the great magician of the pen." but it is not those with a hypocritical or eir-fjserated sene of modesty who find offence in the anatomical anat-omical exposure revealed by the low-ness low-ness of Miss Rehau's frowns. In Miss Rehan' estimation doubtless certain of her ebnrins are suiliciontly attractive to be exhibited to the public boldly, but in the estimation of the public these charms are sufficiently offensive to be relegated entirely to tho privacy of her boudoir. There is such a thing as wearing tight modestly, so also is there such a thing as wearing low-necked dresses without carrying a suggestion of immodesty. Propriety is of course a mere matter of peography. Iu the Fiji islands Miss Kehan's exposure would be eminently proper, lu Chicago, Chi-cago, yes, even in liberal, unconventional unconven-tional "western" Chicago the exposure is not proper. |
