Show Prentice Miilford'i Spirit. New York Sun. The alleged spirit of Prentice Mill-ford, Mill-ford, the author and journalist, found dead in his boat a week ago, appeared at Conservatory hall, in Brooklyn, last evening, and addressed a large audience audi-ence of spiritualists gathered to witness the peculiar annual "memorial service for the departed," to which the day is devoted. J.W. Fletcher.an inspirational speaker, speak-er, ma'le an address on "What Consolation Conso-lation Does Spiritualism Offer to the Bereaved"" At it! close he said that during the evening ho had been very much impressed by a sensation of failing fail-ing anil being on ho water. This he believed to be the result of some stiirit- ual inlluenco present and desiring strongly to manifest itself. "I see," said the speaker, closing his eyes, "a largo white crons rising before me. It gradually changes into a human j face that of I'rentice Mulford, editor of tho White Cross Library':" He had hardly uttered these words when a shudder ran through his frame, and in a moment voice mid features seemed to undergo a complete chaugo. In the strange voice he said: "I am a spirit known to the world as Prentice Mulford. I wish to say to my many friends that I did not commit sui-cido," sui-cido," as some people imagine. Hut for a long time 1 have remained in my body by sheer force of will, peeling at last that my work was dona in having given to the world the thoughts imparted to me regarding the higher laws of life, and that thera was little or nothing for me to live for, I passed Into the spirit )if simply by the same exorcise of my will that kept me until then iu the body. I have met many old friends here, and in a short time I shall reappear on earth iu visible form. |
